2018 Domaine des Niales Rhedon-Marin Mâcon-Villages Vieilles Vignes

SKU #1473948

This is a charming Chardonnay from a small grower in the Mâcon. Lionel Rhedon-Marin is a graduate of the College of Viticulture in the nearby village of Davaye, where Guffens trained. All of their young-vine fruit is sold in bulk to one of the better negociants, who is pleased to have it, since Lionel is such a careful grower. But their old-vine fruit, all over 45 years of age, is kept for the domaine wine, which is charming and elegant. This is a balanced, well-made and wonderfully crisp and mineral-driven Mâcon. Only K&L's direct import makes this price possible.

It's been great to revisit this producer! I fell in love with their wine 5 years ago and it's till great! The 2018 shows a lot of fresh ripe orchard fruits with a creamy palate. It's a great crossover wine if you are just getting into Burgundy, and is also a great everyday bottle.

This is quintessential Chardonnay from the Mâcon, representing the best of fresh, bistro-style drinking. Crisp green apple, Meyer lemon, pretty white flowers and the zing of lip smacking acidity are all wrapped up in a tasty package with the wonderfully low price of $14.99. This is easily one of our top values in the Burgundy department. Purchase a case and keep it in your fridge for anytime pop-and-pour enjoyment.

Another great release from this fine estate. This has always been my "go to" winery for super affordable, high-quality white Burgundy. A very pretty nose that is floral and lush with tropical fruit and stone fruits. On the palate, quite plush and full, with green and yellow fruits and a nice "tang" of acidity. A little too easy to drink! Extremely versatile for food pairing.

The nose here is lemon sorbet with a slight tropical note of pineapples and cream. A testament to its inherent drinkability, I barely noticed that this effortlessly disappeared from my glass. Medium bodied, and neatly framed with acidity and soaring aromatics, this has a ton of value at its price. I dare you to find a domestic Chardonnay in its price range that comes even close to this
