Now this is an impressive bottle of Pinot for $25! Ehren Jordan's "Failla" wines have long been a go-to for me personally and when recommending wines to customers. They are universally delicious, impeccably well made, simply pure class through and through. Whilst most of the Failla wines originate from Sonoma county, more recently Ehren has been making wines from top vineyard sites in Oregon and has even opened a tasting room in the Eola-Amity Hills. This Williamette Valley bottling from Failla is blended from some of the most highly regarded, well established vineyards in the region including the 1972 planted Eola Springs, 1968 planted Chehalem Mountain and from the iconic 1984 planted Seven Springs. No sub-par juice here this is serious stuff. True to his style and no doubt due to the long hang-time and perfect ripening of the 2018 season, this wine is a little more powerful and concentrated than your typical $25 Willamette Valley Pinot. Bold, powerful, spicy deep red fruits, warm earthy notes, dusty berries, baking spice, medium plus bodied with lots of weight to the almost briary fruit. Great length and persistence on the palate with some more classically Oregonian savory aspects of Pinot Noir showing through - pine needle, coastal forest, bramble leaf. There's a huge amount for flavor and quality packed into this bottle and Ehren has polished it up beautifully. This is a sure-fire winner at this price and a wine with tons of broad appeal that will bring a smile to your face.
