2018 Domaine Sylvain Langoureau St-Aubin

SKU #1469225 Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark Cool and airy aromas of citrus, green apple and petrol introduce racy, well-detailed and lightly mineral-inflected flavors that conclude in a saline, linear and moderately dry finale. This delicious effort should drink well shortly after release. Inner quote mark (6/2020)

K&L Notes

While Domaine Sylvain Langoureau may not be a household name, we anticipate it will become the go-to producer for those who enjoy artfully crafted wines that combine a pronounced citrus element with crisp acidity and a touch of minerality. This family-run estate does everything by hand, is committed to low yields, and focuses on conveying each site's distinctive terroir. Producer notes from Allen Meadows for Burghound: "Sylvain Langoureau has been directing this 9 ha domaine since 1989 which he says is now farmed entirely organically." (06/2020)

Very soil driven on the nose, much like rained on rocks. Fruit is balanced and forward with notes of lime, under ripe green pear, lychee and a hint of kumquat. Very well integrated in the oak category, more like light hazelnut mousse and bright in the finish.

A great entry-level offering this wine is surprisingly rich and complex with aromas of ripe cut apples and pears as well as subtle hints of hazelnuts and vanilla. The palate is awash in orchard fruits and spice with rich oak undertones and impeccable balance. A great introduction to the St. Aubin appellation as well as a wonderful value.
