2017 Mount Edward "Morrison Vineyard" Pinot Noir Lowburn Central Otago

SKU #1463367 97 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark This marries violets, blueberries and darker cherries in a very pure and composed style with gentle bracken and sappy allure. The palate has a succulent, juicy and very fresh feel with neatly carved, fine tannin that holds long, direct and deep. Such regal depth and savory tannin resolve. From organically grown grapes. Inner quote mark (8/2019)

97 points Sam Kim

Outer quote mark A compelling offering; the dazzling bouquet is filled with dark berry characters together with floral, thyme, toasted nut and forest floor notes, leading to an impressively rich yet elegant and poised palate that exhibits exceptional depth and drive. Wonderfully proportioned and impeccably harmonious. Certified organic. Inner quote mark (9/2020)

96 points Bob Campbell

Outer quote mark Dense, rich and impressive pinot noir with ripe plum, dark berry, spice, thyme and nutty oak flavours, with a seductively silken texture. Approachable now but with serious cellaring potential. Very impressive Inner quote mark (4/2019)

92 points Vinous

Outer quote mark This is a rich and full-bodied Pinot Noir that fills the mouth with scent. A distinctive herbal note reminiscent of pine and dried thyme provides the soprano line to the brooding black cherries and plum fruit in the middle register and the earthy, spicy notes in the bass department. There's decent concentration and richness while remaining fresh: a stream of mouthwatering acidity provides a cleansing conclusion and the fine, chalky tannins flex a bit of muscle on the finish. (RG) Inner quote mark (3/2021)

This has a husky nose of ripe black cherry, rhubarb, cola and cinnamon. The body of the wine is deep and dense with a great array of dark and red fruit flavors that stay fresh and focused. The rich and fruity finish is anchored by ripe tannins on this delicious and serious Pinot.
