2014 Señorío de P. Peciña Crianza Rioja

SKU #1462585 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark I find the 2014 Señorío de P. Peciña Crianza a bit advanced and with more oxidative aromas reminiscent of tea leaves and brick dust, intermixed with creamy oak and some balsamic undertones. The palate is medium-bodied, with marked acidity. 2014 seems like a lighter vintage for earlier drinking. 100,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2018. (LG) Inner quote mark (6/2019)

K&L Notes

Few traditionally styled Rioja's (read: delicately fruity and spicy, medium weight, used American oak barrels, longer ageing, minimal to no filtering) get it as consistently right as these folks do. Their wines come exclusively from grapes grown in their prime Labastida and San Vicente vineyards in Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta, respectively. With a wealth of established vines in these exclusive sections of Rioja, Pecina is able to make some of the regions most delicious, classic wines, from Crianza on up to Gran Reserva.

Big and Rich. Buttered toast, praline and strawberry compote all over the nose and palate, with soft, well-integrated tannins and a smooth, inviting finish. This wine wants to go with a big meal or a cool evening. Take it up to the snow for some spring skiing and grab some chicken or lamb to go with it
