This firm-textured, tannic wine is the first Drew GSM we’ve tasted, and it captures plenty of black-fruit flavors lifted by good acidity. It seems more lean than the winery’s Syrahs in recent vintages and may need time to mellow. (JG) (10/2020)
Precise and well-built, with expressive red plum, fresh tarragon and smoked pepper flavors that build tension toward well-groomed tannins. Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache. (TF) (4/2020)
"The Field Blend" from Drew is comprised of 87% Syrah, 5% Viognier, 3% Grenache, 3% Mourvedre, and 2% Roussanne all from the Mendocino Ridge AVA. This is 45% whole cluster fermentation with native yeasts and is aged 11 months in neutral French oak barrels. A mere 210 cases were produced.
