According to Christophe Schaefer, the 2018 Domprobst Auslese AP #11 has just a tiny touch of botrytis in it, as it has almost exclusively been produced from golden berries. The wine is truly stunning on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet soaring from the glass in a blaze of pear, yellow plum, fresh pineapple, a gorgeous base of slate, citrus blossoms, bee pollen and lilacs. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and zesty, with a lovely core, great backend mineral drive and outstanding complexity and grip on the vibrant, snappy and electric finish. This is just beautiful Auslese!

Crystalline purity of white pepper, sushi, sea salt, rosemary and citrus. Electric acidity holds layers of sweet peaches and apricots at bay, while refreshening the entire mouth. Medium-sweet, but very long.

Crunchy in texture, with great intensity and a mineral-driven profile, accented by aromas and flavors of yellow apple and peach cobbler. Shows detailed structure, with electric acidity imparting energy and keeping the various elements intact. Unravels more and more with each sip. (AZ)

A touch of spice here as if it had had some (big, old) oak influence. Cool and lemony on the palate, silky freshness and excellent purity. All fruit at the moment but in balance for the longer term. (JH) 17/20

K&L Notes
94 points Mosel Fine Wines: "AP: 11 19. The 2018er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Auslese AP 11 was harvested at 100° Oechsle from fully ripe grapes and only little botrytis impact and was fermented down to noble-sweet levels of residual sugar. This offers a beautiful nose of pear, citrusy fruits, a hint of apricot, spices and herbs. The wine is nicely playful yet creamy on the palate and leaves a gorgeously zesty feel in the long finish. The mouthwatering feel in the after-taste is simply to die for."
