Martin Ray is on an incredible run with their Sonoma Coast bottling, and this 2018 is their best yet. It shows a level of refinement and elegance that makes it a bit of an anomaly at this price point, and then delivers complexity that would make wines at double this price still look like a great value. Enticing aromas of cranberry and bright cherry lead to a textured but light bodied palate full of fresh red fruits,a bit of spice, and an engaging, mouthwatering finish. There's almost something Burgundian here. This will be my go-to Pinot as long as we can keep it in stock, and it although it has the stuffing to age for years to come, it is nearly impossible to resist even at this early stage.

Yet another exceptional release from Martin Ray. In my opinion they're making the very best value wines in all of California bar none. As I said about the last vintage, this is true Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir that should probably cost at least twice what it does and can easily stand shoulder to shoulder with many of the $50 wines from the same appellation. It's pure, elegant, full of fresh, vibrant forest berry fruit, baking spices, subtle oak nuances, silky tannin structure and juicy acidity. A beautifully complete, refined Pinot Noir at a price point that is just unrivaled. Consistently a best seller at K&L with customers and staff alike.
