Lovely black-cherry, lavender and rose-petal character on the nose. Full body and firm, tight tannins that add structure and depth. Extremely long and intense. Excellent. (9/2019)
Dark soil, savory spice, and smoky mineral tones waft up from the glass, as Ferrero's 2015 Brunello di Montalcino draws me closer to find black raspberry and balsamic tones in a display which is ripe yet also grounded in the earth. On the palate, dark, fleshy textures give way to ripe black fruits, complemented by savory herbs, hints of olive, and saline-minerality, all carried by zesty acids. The 2015 finishes in an energetic fashion, buzzing with mouthwatering acids and minerals, yet it is also savory and slightly herbal, with just a hint of youthful tannin providing grip. There’s a rusticity here as well, yet it is nicely balanced. (EG) (4/2020)
