SKU #1454382 98 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark This is dense and focused with a very tight and compacted palate of blackberries, blueberries and smoke. Full-bodied and very flavorful. Structured and so beautiful. Quite muscular. Inner quote mark (10/2018)

Outer quote mark The medium ruby-purple colored 2017 Pinot Noir CIX Estate has beautiful red raspberries, cranberry pie and Bing cherries scents with nuances of lavender, dried herbs, red roses and tilled soil plus a touch of underbrush. The palate is full, firm and grainy with lovely ripe tannins and a great core of vibrant red fruit, finishing long and perfumed. 95+ (LPB) Inner quote mark (10/2018)

95 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2017 Pinot Noir CIX Vineyard is a rich, sensual wine. Red cherry jam, blood orange, pomegranate, and rose petals all flesh out in this lush yet mid-weight, incredibly appealing Pinot Noir. The 2017 is succulent and juicy in style, and yet it also retains terrific freshness. There is so much to look forward to. (AG) Inner quote mark (12/2018)

92 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark A full-bodied style, with ripe dark plum and lively blueberry pie flavors that are flanked by tea and mocha hints. The chocolate- and cream-filled finish is lusciously spiced. (KM) Inner quote mark (10/2019)

K&L Notes

Mark Aubert’s winemaking journey began in the late 1980s at Peter Michael. After working alongside such luminaries as Helen Turley, he founded Aubert Wines in 1999. The winery's focus on single-site Chardonnay and Pinot Noir has propelled them to the elite of California estates today. Producer notes from Antonio Galloni for Vinous: "Mark Aubert turned out a positively brilliant set of wines in 2017, something that is made all the more remarkable considering the stress that surrounded the fall of that year. Aubert described the October 2017 fires as the most horrific thing he had seen in 43 years of living in Napa Valley. As for the wines, well, they are simply stunning. There is not much more to it than that...In Pinot Noir, Aubert is pursuing a gentler approach that includes lower temperatures in fermentation, more stem influence and fewer punchdowns. The jammy, sweet character that once marked these wines so heavily is now much less apparent."
