2015 Domaine Georges Roumier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Cras"

SKU #1454206 93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Here the cool and more restrained nose is at once spicier and more elegant with a relatively high-toned combination of pomegranate, cherry, violet and lavender aromas. The equally elegant, pure, sleek and highly energetic flavors possess an exquisitely fine mouthfeel along with bracing minerality while delivering superb length on the saline and bitter cherry-inflected finish. This is potentially a great vintage for this wine as everything is in place for it to be really, really good in time. (1/2018)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Tasted blind, Roumier's 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras showed well, exhibiting aromas of raspberries, cherries, peonies and espresso roast, framed by some toasty new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and even lavish, with an expansive attack, a generous core of dark, savory fruit and a framing of satiny structuring tannins. This is quite a ripe, expressive rendition of Les Cras, in keeping with recent vintages of this Roumier bottling, such as 2012. (WK) (10/2018)

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

(13.55% alcohol; vinified with 53% whole clusters): Bright dark red. Very stony aromas of black raspberry, black pepper and smoky calcaire. Large-scaled, dense, slightly medicinal premier cru with full ripeness but a youthfully clenched quality today. Rather powerful on the back end, finishing with sneaky palate-staining length and fine-grained tannins. (1/2018)

92 points Vinous

he 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru has a tight, compact bouquet with some oak that needs to be fully subsumed, but there is primal, untamed intensity here. The palate is quite muscular on the entry, almost equidistant in style between Chambolle and Morey, and delivers plenty of substance and grip toward the defined finish. This is a bit of a brute at the moment, but I think it will pull through with bottle age. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (NM) (11/2018)

91 points Decanter

Robust nose showing some black fruit alongside cherry. Fresh attack, limpid and pure, with a tannic backbone providing tension and staying power. It shows flair on the long, lightly chewy finish. Drinking Window 2018 - 2028. (SB) (12/2016)

K&L Notes

91pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Dense purple, slightly lighter rim, a wealth of sumptuous fruit with a fractional reduction. Very intense on the palate but the oak is not quite in harmony, giving some buttery notes and a slightly tough finish. Yet there is huge intensity…."
