2013 Franck Bonville "Millesime" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

SKU #1454177

The Bonville family owns 50 acres of Grand Cru vineyards and uses exclusively estate fruit in this wine. This Champagne is a great example of how much more wine you get for less money compared to a big name non-vintage Champagne when the export brokers, import companies and distributors are taken out of the deal. This is 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay from Avize, Oger and Cramant and one hell of a wine. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

Yet another stunner from Franck Bonville, this one being a vintage Champagne for under $50. Apples and orange blossoms on the nose with a clean and crisp mineral-driven finish on the palate. This is a wine that makes me want to get a case and just open a bottle each year to see how it ages and progresses.

This 5.83 g/L dosage champagne is shining brilliantly with notes of green apple crispness, spices and minerality to finish and balance this elegant bottle of bubbly. A blend of 96% chardonnay and 4% pinot noir, it has ripeness without losing acidity. You can tell it's made from estate fruit just from the flavors that are enhanced when it hits your palate. At $45 a bottle this will be a hard one to keep in stock!

Bonville's Millesime showcases the delicate and light side of Chardonnay. The wine is fresh and mineral-driven with nice chalk and honeycrisp apple. On the palate I pick up yellow fruits (especially pear) and a soft floral tone that makes this a very elegant Champagne.

Few things excite me more than the vintage offerings of Cotes de Blancs savant, and Champagne’s winemaker of the year last year, Olivier Bonville. Beautiful concentration of green apple, lime blossom, minerals and spice, always elegant and balanced. And you don’t need to call your banker to lock this down, it is about half the price you would expect to pay from the Grand Marque’s similar offerings!

A testament to a quality producer getting everything they can out of a vintage, the 2013 Franck Bonville is incredibly floral and racy, with long, defined lines through the entire palate that fade pleasantly at the very end to soft toasted notes. Will age very well.

Franck Bonville champagnes are just incredible. They are delicately powerful, like opposite attractions. It's the blending balance that makes them work! I get subtle pears and almonds, hum!!!! 2013 is fresh and delicious.
