The latest incredible value offering from the folks at Grand Napa. Heir Apparent is a bold, powerful blend from top vineyards in Napa Valley spanning Rutherford, Spring Mountain and Oakville. The valley floor fruit brings big, rich fruit, ripe tannin and silky texture to the palate. The Spring Mountain component adds some fresh tobacco and briary, earthy notes. This is expressive and drinking well as a young wine but will also continue to develop in the cellar for 5-10 years or longer. We negotiated hard and took a big position on this wine so we're offering it at a seriously discounted price some 60% lower than the winery's SRP!

The nose to this red blend opens with bright fresh fruits that then fall into heady deep floral notes. Violets meld with berries in tones that grow more tropical as I continue to nose. On the palate red licorice takes over followed by more berry characteristics along with bubble gum. The tannins here are soft to medium in strength leading to a nice complex texture, as well as making for a wine that's drinkable now but could age for several years. The finish folds the dark red fruit aspects around drying spice. This would be a great wine for grilled meats and hard cheeses.
