2015 Cristom "Estate" Eola-Amity Hills Willamette Valley Pinot Noir (Elsewhere $47)

SKU #1451643 94 points James Suckling

There’s a deep-set array of rich dark cherries and an earthy, soulful overlay with a very profound, complex set of forest-like notes. The palate is supple and succulent and has a wealth of rich, dark cherries and berries with a solid tannin base and a powerful, juicy and assertive build to the concentrated, rich finish. Drink over the next decade. (9/2019)

91 points Wine Enthusiast

This enticing blend includes grapes from all of the estate vineyards, in a smooth, supple and well-integrated wine. The blueberry and sweet cherry fruit carries a touch of spice. The round, almost soft midpalate penetrates and lingers in a lush finish. (PG) (3/2019)

This all estate fruit sourced from 4 distinguishing vineyard sites is a perfect intro into the style of Cristom, a benchmark Oregon pinot noir producer. The guide on the nose is a thin vein of dark chocolate, raspberry jam, douglas fir, and Keemun tea. On the palate reveals tayberries, chocolate-covered espresso beans, baking spices finishing with underscores of wet rock and buoyant acidity. The versatility in this wine shows it can pair with a variety of cuisines, so feel free to explore with no limitations because this is a fantastic value-for-quality wine.

A deliciously sippable and well-priced top tier Willamette Pinot from a touchstone producer. Deep red cherry, ripe raspberry, and strawberry fruit lead on the nose accented by pink peppercorn, sandalwood, and cinnamon red hots with hints of mulling spices and pine straw. The silky ripeness of the fruit is offset by good integrated acidity and a veil of fine-grain tannin. This has a bright future ahead of it, though it’s no crime to drink it now. Salmon, duck, and mushroom risotto, you’ve met your match.
