Corner Creek 10 Year Old Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey (750ml)

SKU #1446533

The enigmatic Corner Creek brand was bottled for years at a famous little family owned distillery in Bardstown. Recently the brand moved production to the Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Crestwood production and relaunched with this new 10 year old expression. The source is a secret, but there's no question that Corner Creek has the connections to find some seriously delicious bourbon and this new expression is leaps and bounds ahead of the previous no-age-stated Corner Creek. They've selected their choicest stocks for this product and bottled them without chill-filteration. Even at 88 proof, this bourbon exhibits great richness and texture, wonderful depth, and an believable balance. This is the sort of bourbon that appeals to the most novice drinker (due to its approachable character) but will be interesting enough to satisfy even the most jaded bourbon nut. Please note that due to the lack of filtration you'll notice some haziness in the whiskey. This is completely normal and means your bourbon is packed with flavor. K&L is the only store in California selling this exceptional offering.

A delight to drink, and a stunning value for a 10-year age statement. Sure it lacks the fire of Elijah Craig's barrel proof, but it by no means lacks flavor. Plus, it's one you can feel confident giving to someone not as experienced with cask strength offerings, who just likes it neat or with a single ice cube. Easy-going and fresh, it delivers a soft, corn-focused nose - sweet and delicate, almost floral. But there is serious weight on the palate, with sticky salted caramel and savory herbs. Oak and vanilla give it richness and satisfying texture, while the surprisingly long finish offers a dry, mineral quality that offsets the sweetness upfront. I think even the most fickle bourbon fans will find a lot to enjoy in this humble bottle. It's a sleeper, if I ever saw one.

I'm always astonished that we're able to secure exclusives like this one. Corner Creek is a good old brand that used to be pretty well regarded. There was a period where they were putting out stuff that was a bit austere, but the new owners have moved the brand up several notches and are now offering some real quality in the bottle. There aren't many 10 year old age stated bourbons on the market anymore. While all the big guys are taking age statements off, this little player has added one. This whisky is the perfect balance of ease of consumption and complexity. If you're looking for something to gift, but don't know someones tastes this is an easy bet. No one else in California is selling this baby and it's always great to receive a gift of bourbon you've never tried before. As for the flavor expect a soft supple nose of melted butter and brown sugar. Hints of mint and toasted vanilla offer intrigue, but don't over power the sweet aromatics. On the palate, it's medium bodied and not too dry. Sweet corn and caramel topped off with a lovely herbal finish. It's not the monster whisky that a Bookers or Elijah Craig Barrel Proof might be, but it's got plenty of complexity and drinks extremely well at 88 proof.

It always makes me smile to see a new Bourbon come through. Even more exciting is when a new age stated whisky comes out under $100! Did not know much about this producer, but they seem to know how to get some fine juice. Corner Creek 10 year starts off with a blast spearmint! Then, the usual suspects, sweet vanilla, toffee, charred oak and fine traces of herbs. Light on the palate with lovely french vanilla, mint, caramel and tobacco. That tobacco flavor sticks with ya through out. This is super smooth but don't let the lower proof fool you. It still delivers some good complexity til the end. This is a fine alternative to the high proof beasts that seems to be all the rage now. With spring just around the corner this is a great whiskey to server at any Kentucky Derby party! Or any party for that matter. This is one of those Bourbons that is sure to please everyone. Did I mention this makes one hell of a julep.

I used to drink Corner Creek all the time. I loved it, thought it was the best sub $30 bottle out there. Then it went away, now it’s back. It’s not quite how I remember it and now it’s coming with a 10-year age statement, but damn, it’s still great. The nose just wafts perfumed apple; it’s so aromatic I almost stopped there. But my nose kept on digging to reveal a light vanilla note with a little candy corn and orange peel with fennel seed. Sipping this was a pleasure; the dram drank softly with little heat and a clean, bright tone that preceded caramel apple and orange Mamba flavors I was getting. The finish was long with an oaky dryness about it before trailing off with notes of Nerds candy. Don’t call it a comeback, this one is a totally different beast.

In just a few words, the Corner Creek 10 is expressive, pronounced, and delicious. It is rich and round, with concentrated cherry, apple, and caramel flavors. If one adds some water, creamy and sweet notes come through. It is good with and without water and should please any bourbon drinker.

This is a modern classic. Just down home delicious bourbon with a proper age statement coming out of Kentucky. The landscape has been changing for years in what qualifies as a value in Kentucky Bourbon, but prices have dramatically accelerated in the last year making this rarity a truly exceptional deal. Soft and open its loaded up with candied citrus fruits and sweet barrel spice notes. At 88 proof it is more than little reminiscent of Hancock's.

A soft and prettily floral nose begins the trip with this incredibly friendly Bourbon. There's an approachability and enticement just on the bouquet itself, with hints of oak and spice but the florality and the fruit come together to also give me notes of muscat and wild herbs. The palate is classic Bourbon with good amounts of vanilla and spice and Muscovado sugar with sandalwood and on the long and lingering finish. Delicious and a really reasonable price for a 10 year age-statement Bourbon, especially one this hard to find in California.

Sweet and delicately soft without being cloyingly rich or overly spicy, this is a perfectly balanced whiskey, made to please pretty much anyone. Hints of citrus and almond meet caramel and yeasty bread. I didn't bother adding water to this one as it went down so easily on its own. This is my new go-to recommendation on the shelf for a multi-purpose, delicious Bourbon.
