Vinous
Deep red. Perfumed violet, rose and red cherry. Profoundly rich and round but still very young, with chewy, slightly tough tannins and lots of vibrant acidity extending the mineral red cherry flavors on the back end. Made from the south-eastern slope of Mount Etna from very old vines planted at about 500 meters above sea level. Well done; this is potentially very great. (ID) 94+

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2014 Etna Rosso Serra della Contessa (made with 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio) comes from a vineyard on the east side of the volcano located 500 meters above sea level. The vines are more than 100 years old and planted on their original root stock. Some 7,000 bottles were made. This wine is distinguished by the elegance of its aromas. Wild cherry, cranberry, lilac and pressed violets emerge from the bouquet. The wine also shows a strong volcanic identity with crush stone and smoke. (ML)

Wine Enthusiast
Balanced and vibrant, this elegant red opens with aromas evoking underbrush, dark culinary spice, wild berry and a whiff of new leather. The chiseled, understated palate is all about ethereal finesse, offering crushed strawberry, red cherry and star anise set against lithe, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. (KO)

A fresh, supple red, featuring enticing violet, spice box and juniper accents to the pure note of crushed cherry fruit. Finely meshed and medium-bodied, with sculpted tannins and a lingering tang of mineral on the finish. (BS)
