2017 Herman Story "Milk & Honey" Paso Robles Red Blend

SKU #1434534 92 points Jeb Dunnuck

The 2017 Milk & Honey checks in as a blend of 34% Tempranillo, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Syrah, 14% Petit Verdot, and the rest Grenache sourced all from Paso Robles and brought up in 77% new French oak. Blackberries, cassis, scorched earth, graphite, and ground pepper all define the bouquet, and it's full-bodied, with a powerful, concentrated mid-palate, ripe tannins, and a great finish. Give bottles a year and it should keep for 7-8. 92+ (10/2017)

92 points Vinous

Deep vivid ruby. Powerful, spice- and smoke-accented dark berries, cherry preserves, vanilla and licorice on the deeply perfumed nose. In a rich, fleshy style but not lacking for energy, offering sweet black and blue fruit, floral pastille, mocha and bitter chocolate flavors that turn sweeter with air. Chewy tannins add grip to a long, smoky finish that emphatically repeats the blue fruit and vanilla notes. This big, generous wine was raised in 77% new French oak barrels. (JR) (2/2020)
