2008 Laurent-Perrier Brut Champagne

SKU #1431174 96 points Wine Enthusiast

While still young, this Champagne has all the makings of greatness. Produced from grand cru vineyards, it already balances ripe white fruits with a firm structure that will age well. It’s relatively dry and has plenty of acidity, which will also aid in the longevity. Drink from 2022. Laurent- Perrier US. *Cellar Selection* (RV) (12/2019)

K&L Notes

This all grand cru blend, which is composed of 50% each Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, is the best I have ever tasted from Laurent-Perrier, and should go the distance if you decide to cellar it. Don't miss this fantastic example of the best vintage in a generartion! -Gary Westby

This 2008 vintage bottling from Laurent-Perrier hits big with bright citrus, a little fresh dough, Granny Smith apples, and Bartlett pears. The palate is just as bold as the nose boasting bracing acid that’s mouth-puckering, crisp apple, and lemon drop candies. Very sexy Champagne.

As a staff we had a chance to taste with our Laurent-Perrier rep not long ago, but at the time they didn't have an '08 for us to try. Given how spectacular the year was an how the other wines were showing I couldn't wait to get my hands on a sample and was not disappointed! A 50/50 split of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and made of entirely Grand Cru fruit the wine shows beautifully with notes of lemon meringue, grapefruit and vanilla. The palate is just the right balance of acid with hints of graham cracker, bright citrus, and a wonderfully long finish. Wine like this will only get better with age so make sure you get some before it's gone!

A great example of a 2008 champagne! Toasty and nutty aromas followed by bright green apples, almonds and focused acid. With all Grand Cru fruit, this Laurent Perrier bottling is not to miss at this price.

Quite simply the best Laurent Perrier I've ever tasted, this is exactly what collectors have been promised by the extraordinary 2008 vintage. Happy floral and pom fruit notes on the nose with an complex palete of dark fruit and bread pudding around tight pear and firm minerality. Grand Cru's deliver.

It has beautiful floral elements on the nose, bright pear, green apple and cherry fruit notes, vibrant minerals and the bright acidity that is a hallmark of the vintage. A wonderful Grand Cru sourced from ALL of the Grand Cru vineyards, this 2008 vintage LP is a rock star of a champagne. Amazingly crisp palate, vibrant lemon peel, peach skin and big voluptuous bubbles give the perfect set up for a sexy long finish.

Country:

France

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them.
Sub-Region:

Champagne

- The French region of Champagne (comprised of the towns of Rheims, Epernay, and Ay) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and winemaking traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range from the basic brut (often blends of several vintages), single vintage champagnes, and rose.
