2018 Jouanin, Cotes de Castillon

SKU #1430149

Thank the emerging region of Cotes de Castillon for this spectacular deal in red Bordeaux. This cuvee shares many qualities of top-flight St-Emilion, with a great sweetness of fruit along with vanilla and spicy notes from new oak. Everyone who loves wine knows it's hard to find a steal in Bordeaux these days, but this wine offers a lot of wine for the money.

Mocha, cherry and raspberry nose preceding a floral and ground coffee palate all in a lighter, prettier style of Bordeaux. This wine has got a long life ahead of it for the price point but also opens up incredibly well for a wine so young, the lighter body invites all sorts of left field wine pairings and would work perfectly for an office happy hour

Delightful aromas of violets and freshly rained on forest. Plush, velvety, and absolutely delicious. Pomegranate, blackberries, dark cocoa, and a hint of vanilla at the end. Smooth finish with just enough tannins. Drink on its own or pair with roast beef, roasted vegetables, hearty pasta dishes and steak. Enjoy!

Classic 2018. Don't let the low price scare you away. This reminds me of the 1997 Cantemerle: it drinks great young, but will age (if you can keep your hands off it.) Wild spicy berry and floral character. Full-bodied, with soft tannins.
