Outer quote mark The 2016 Barbaresco Autinbej is a very pretty entry-level wine in this range. Black cherry, spice, menthol, licorice and dried flowers all open up in a fruity, forward Barbaresco that will drink well right out of the gate. This is such a delicious and inviting wine. Drink 2021-2036. (AG) Inner quote mark (11/2019)

This is a powerhouse wine and has all the hallmarks of a classic Nebbiolo. Definite structure and fine tannin are counterbalanced by lush fruit and springy acid. There is a lot of wine in this bottle. It comes across very boldly at first, but settles down after having it open for a few hours. Very representative of Barbaresco and a crazy long finish.

A lovely wine, this opens with earthy notes and then varies between cherries and dried berries then herbal and menthol. There is a light body of floral tones elevating the nose. On the palate there's a nice bold spice with old leather and soft tannins. There are loads of red fruit flavors here that combine dried fruit flavors with fresher notes of cranberry, cherry, and pomegranate.

Considering that Barbaresco is aged for two years in barrel and an additional year in bottle prior to release, we're grateful that we can offer this impressive young vines Nebbiolo from Ca del Baio at such a modest price. The cost is only slightly higher than most Langhe Nebbiolos and well worth it. This is a classicly styled Barbaresco that can be enjoyed now yet will continue to round out over the next few years.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a red wine that had this much beautiful, floral expression on the nose. The glass is brimming with rose petal, above notes of cardamom and maraschino liqueur. This wine is straight up glamorous. Perfectly ripened strawberry, with a brickish, savory edge. Pure and powerful with brilliant fruit expression. The tannin really reinforces, providing an earthy backdrop. We’re poured an ocean of wines at K&L--this one stands out.

This is glorious Nebbiolo fruit in a classic expression. Your first whiff of the wine whisks you away to the northern hills of Piedmont. The “Autinbej” bottling is a tribute to Giulio Grasso’s late father Ernesto and has only been produced since the 2014 vintage. This is 100% pure Nebbiolo from two marl & limestone vineyards; one west facing, the other east. The wine is aged for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels (boti) followed by four months aging in bottle. The result is a wine that is intensely aromatic with a host of berries, violets, and a hint of spice. On the palate, the wine is lithe and ethereal with a long persistent finish. You know that Giulo would not disappoint his father! What a steal.

I was floored by the beautifully expressive bouquet of this young Barbaresco featuring wild cherry, roses, black licorice and soft citrus blossom notes. On the palate, an attack of rich, dense dark cherry fruit, followed by a smorgasbord of herbs and spices, such a pleasant and complex profile! There is really great structure from tannin and acidity that will help this age, but are already fine to drink right now. Barbaresco of this caliber is almost never this affordable. Stock up and enjoy over the next several years!

Charming, well-structured Nebbiolo with beautiful aromas of spices, blackthorn fruit and floral notes in the background. On the palate it's firm yet approachable with supple flavors that remind me ripe blackthorn berries, wild red plums, Damson plums and muddled red cherries supported by earthy texture. Finish is long and spicy with savory touch to it. Incredibly delicious to drink now, but also will reward you in years to come.

The nose of this wine opens with lots of spice, coupled with the more traditional rose, leather and earth aromatics. On the palate the wine comes alive bursting with flavors, broad, rich fruits, black tea, porcini and wild strawberry confit. The wine shows lots of supple richness that makes it easily drinkable now however this is no lightweight wine, it has fine grain tannins super well-integrated that give the wine a framework for aging. Ten plus years for this wine will just begin to open but this beautiful wine is so good now how can you wait… from the stunningly good 2016 vintage!

Lovely dry red fruits and spice on the nose lead into a very well structured medium bodied floral and dry wild strawberry palate - fine tannins and just a touch of soft sweet leather with delicious fruit tempt you to drink now, but I expect this little gem to age nicely for quite a few more years.
