2017 Clos de l'Anhel "Lolo de l'Anhel" Corbières

SKU #1427620

"My name is Sophie Guiraudon and I am a winemaker since ZERO generation!", says Sophie proudly. Sophie was working in other peoples' wineries in southern France for years. In 2000, Sophie started her own bio-dynamic, organic winery. She wanted to grow grapes that her son could eat right off of the vines. The "Lolo de l'Anhel" is typically a blend of 81% of Carignan, 10% of Syrah, 7% of Grenache Noir, and 2% Mourvèdre. The grapes are hand picked, gently vacuum pressed, and finished with 100% tank aging.

Composed mainly of Carignan, with splashes of GSM, I love the combo of berry fruit and floral aromas in this wine, while the palate has ripe red and black fruits and a kick of earth. This is not a dense, heavy red. It is so clean and fresh, with just the right amount of acidity that keeps you reaching for the bottle. It's the ideal wine to keep stocked at home whether you're looking for something have with dinner or pop open when company arrives. Vinifille Sophie Guiraudon does it all: she farms the grapes, makes the wines and tends to the marketing of her business. We are big fans of this one-woman show.
