This is textbook California Chardonnay with that signature Monterey acidity. The cool climate wines from this appellation exhibit plenty of classic Chardonnay fruit of ripe apple and a touch of citrus. The wine has bright lift and energy with just a enough body and richness to enhance the mouthfeel. This is one very friendly food wine and really over-delivers for the price.

The 2016 Estate Grown Chardonnay from Chalone may be the of the best bangs for your buck for the chard lover. The acid is perfectly balanced, and the wine delivers a creme brulee finish on the Palate. I'm a bit of Chardonnay fanboy myself, and I love how versatile it can be and all different expressions of it from every single terroir it grows. With Chalone being the oldest vineyard in Monterey County, it has developed a wonderfull terroir on it's own. When I'm drinking Chalone, I know it's chalone, and this is a damn fine terroir driven wine at 20 bucks
