Vinous
Medium red. Very ripe aromas and flavors of raspberry liqueur, red cherry and game accented by crushed wild herbs. Suave and seamless, offering a sweeter, more southern impression to the mid-palate. A very successful blend with a lot of personality. Really echoes on the sweet, long, ripely tannic, somewhat warm finish, which will require a year of aging to round into form. (ST)

This suggests peppery spices, stewed raspberries, game and high-toned spices. The palate is the star, full bodied, textured and richly flavored. An orange peel accent leads to a warm finish. (SS)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2012 Southern Blend offers beautiful strawberry and kirsch styled fruit to go with plenty of white pepper, herbs de Provence and an almost garrigue like quality. Seamless, supple and up-front, with medium to full-bodied richness, it’s a forward, charming and certainly delicious effort that can be enjoyed now and over the following 7-8 years. Made by Sean Boyd, these releases from Rotie Cellars show classic styles, with bright acidity that is balanced by good depth and richness. (JD)

Lovely granitic stone aroma, inevitably evoking the galets of the southern Rhône. So terroir driven, with warm, savoury black fruit. Perhaps just a little bit port-like on the finish, which is hardly anathema to the southern Rhône blend style. Drink 2018-2028. (RH) 17/20
