2017 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru "Forets"

SKU #1423696 94 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark More clay. Quite an exposed site that gains concentration via the wind just before ripening. There’s a spicy, herbal and restrained waxy edge to the apples, melon and white pears. The palate’s succulent, long and majestic. Smooth, fine and rich. Some oak influence filling out the finish. Drink or hold. Inner quote mark (7/2018)

Outer quote mark The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Les Forêts is also very promising, offering up notes of crisp peach, iodine, green apple and beeswax. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with a lovely sense of completeness and harmony, concluding with a saline finish. (WK) Inner quote mark (8/2018)

Outer quote mark The 2017 la Forêt is equally stunning. This is one of the best premier crus on the Left Bank, where serious frost damage was not an issue in April, so this wine has turned out absolutely classic in style, albeit with perhaps even a bit more mid-palate stuffing this year than in most vintages. The beautiful nose soars from the glass in a refined blend of apple, pear, chalky minerality, a touch of clementine, dried flowers, citrus peel and spring flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, focused and racy, with a full-bodied personality, a rock solid core, lovely backend minerality and a very long, racy and outstanding finish. Great juice. 2020-2050+. 93+ Inner quote mark (12/2018)

91-93 points Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2017 Chablis Les Forêts 1er Cru has a clean and precise bouquet, lovely granite and limestone scents emerging, plus a touch of blackcurrant leaf. The palate is very well balanced with a spicy, ginger and rhubarb tinged opening, great tension and a long and persistent finish. Excellent. (NM) Inner quote mark (8/2018)

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark Once again there is ample Chablis typicity to the ultra-cool, pure and airy aromas of freshly sliced citrus, quinine, ocean breeze and discreet mineral reduction nuances. There is terrific vibrancy to the intense, chiseled and stony medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a clean, complex and very dry finish where the only nit is a barely perceptible trace of warmth. Excellent quality and this would make a fine choice for mid-term cellaring. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding* Inner quote mark (10/2018)

92 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Rich, almost fat, yet with a strong underpinning of acidity to focus the lemon cake, apple and stone flavors. Shows fine balance, with a hint of spice on the finish. Drink now through 2024. (BS) Inner quote mark (5/2019)

K&L Notes

91-93 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "En bas des coteaux, since 2008. This is exceptionally stylish yet with a certain bite to keep it fresh, real complexity. Blue clay, some depth. Thicker skins from guyot simple. Tasted: May 2018.
