Complex aromas of plums, fruit tea, cherries and hints of flowers. Medium- to full-bodied yet dense on the center palate with gorgeous tannins and great length. This is so long and energetic on the finish. Just a baby but already so impressive. Drink in 2021. (9/2018)
The gorgeous 2015 Carla 6 is a supercharged expression of Sangiovese from a place that I can only describe as Sangiovese heaven: Panzano in Chianti. I'm told that berry size was smaller in this vintage, thus resulting in densely concentrated wines that are teeming with flavor and spirt. You most certainly get a sense of that here. This is a forward-moving and determined wine that leaves a lasting mark on the palate. It ages in tonneaux but then moves into cement for one year to complete its tannic and structural integration. After that, it rests in bottle for one more year to shake off any nervous youthfulness. This vintage possesses impressive energy and depth. (ML) (10/2018)
The 2015 Carla 6 is a worthy follow up to the 2014. Sangiovese flavors are amped up in a beautifully vibrant, explosive wine from proprietor Giampaolo Motta. A rush of ripe red cherry, plum, pomegranate, mint and wild flowers fleshes out in this succulent, hugely delicious wine. The purity of the flavors is simply striking. Aging in 500L barrels works very well in allowing varietal character to be super-expressive. (AG) (2/2019)
