K&L Notes

The Millet Sancerre has been a favorite here at K&L for a long time. Grown in limestone-clay soil, the wine reflects the terroir wonderfully. The flavors are bright with lime, mineral, passion fruit, and that wonderful chalkiness one wants from a Sancerre. This wine over delivers and pairs beautifully with oily seafood dishes and of course, your favorite cheeses.

Like many of my colleagues, I absolutely love the Franck Millet Sancerre, it's exactly what I want from a Sancerre. It's a staple at my own home and I've turned many of my long term customers on to this gem. Perfectly dry and mouthwatering lovely ripe citrus fruits layered over rounder nearly tropical fruits (dry pineappel/ guava range) and pleasing fine minerals. It's fantastic how many layers open up in this Sauvignon Blanc - a testament to the fine vineyards and skill of Franck and Betty Millet - who happen to be two of the nicest people in the wine business on top of all that!
Top Value!

Sometimes I feel like Goldilocks..."this Sauvignon Blanc is too grassy, this one has way too much gooseberry." But, I'm here to say, the Franck Millet Sancerre Blanc is JUST RIGHT. Refreshing enough for the aperitif, substantial enough for a light summer meal. This is my ultimate French bistro wine. K&L is lucky to have a strong relationship with these welcoming and quality driven producers.

Nothing could be more perfect for an aperitif than this outstanding Sancerre from Franck and Bettie Millet. Not only does this have the clean refreshment that Sauvignon Blanc lovers flock to this region for, but it also has great medium bodied texture. The finish is lovely, acqueux pleasure with very nice minerality. It is a natural with goat cheese as well! Will one case be enough?

It's no surprise that this is another gorgeous offering from one of our favorite Direct Import producers. For the last decade plus, we have been getting delightful Sancerres from Franck and Betty Millet and the 2018 is one of their best to date. The vintage was superb with lots of dry extract but where the 2015s were a little heavy and tropical, this has all the cut and clarity of a pristine diamond. Long on citrus with grapefruit peel and key lime, it also has those nervy notes of lemon grass and fresh bay. It is loaded with chalky minerality giving focus and declaring that I am a wine from the Loire Valley.

This bottle makes the argument why Millet has been a staple of K&L for so many years. This is text book Sancerre that lets you know exactly what these wines should taste like. There’s so much fresh citrus, gooseberry, grass, and a dose of mint that makes this one of the most tantalizing wines in the store. This is not your typical one-dimensional Sancerre produced by more commercial entities. This stands alone as a defining wine of the region. Every sip brings you back for more. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more compelling Sancerre for under $20.
