2018 Chateau Les Valentines "Le Caprice de Clementine" Cotes de Provence Rosé

SKU #1415187 92 points Wine & Spirits

Outer quote mark A blend of equal parts cinsault and grenache from an estate halfway between Toulon and St-Tropez, this is saline and spritzy at first, needing a little air to coax out the red fruit. Even then it’s taut and nervy, its red-blushed peach flavors kept firm by zesty lemony acidity. For grilled fish. (TT) Inner quote mark (8/2019)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark A bold nose of tropical fruit and cantaloupe emerges from the 2018 Cotes de Provence Rose Caprice de Clementine. It's light to medium-bodied on the palate and a bit silky in texture. (JC) Inner quote mark (4/2019)

Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark An easy blend of Grenache and Cinsault, this is a deliciously fruity wine. Bright red-currant flavors dominate, boosted by the tangy texture at the end. (RV) Inner quote mark (6/2019)

K&L Notes

The winegrowing estate of Chateau les Valentines is more than a century old. The estate originally brought their grapes to the local cooperative, but when Gilles and Pascale Pons took over in 1997, they decided to make their own wine. They built a modern winery and called the domaine "Les Valentines" after their children, Valentin and Clémentine. Château les Valentines now covers approximately 100 acres. The "Le Caprice de Clémentine" is part of the second range of wines coming from the estate. Moderately priced, it is a high quality Côtes de Provence made from the traditional grape varieties Cinsault (50%) and Grenache (50%). Its easy approach shows fresh and fruity aromas indicative of the region. It is light and delicate with a pure nose and good acidity to preserve freshness. Serve with traditional Mediterranean fare such as a Niçoise salad, grilled fish and vegetables, light cheeses and such.

Very classic Provençal Rosé. with beautiful aromatics, Framboise, citrus and a bit of peach even, but completely dry of course. Just delightful!
