Based on 91% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre, and the rest Viognier, fermented with 40% stems, all raised 22 months in 60% new French, the inky colored 2016 No 5 gives up a gorgeous bouquet of blackcurrants, olives, scorched earth, camphor, and ground pepper. Deep, rich, incredibly powerful, yet also pure, balanced, and seamless, with good acidity, it builds on the palate, has no hard edges, and delivers a blockbuster finish. It needs 4-5 years of bottle age and will keep for two decades. 98+

The 2016 Andremily No. 5 is fabulous. Dark, sumptuous and mysterious in its beauty, the 2016 possesses stunning balance and tons of class. Super-ripe blueberry, crème de cassis, blackberry jam, spice, menthol, licorice and new leather all run through this racy, full-bodied Syrah. The 2016 is a blend of fruit from White Hawk, Larner, Harrison-Clarke, Watch Hill and Alta Mesa, with 40% whole clusters, although the stems aren’t especially noticeable. The 60% new oak needs a bit of time to integrate, but the 2016 is absolutely exquisite. This large scaled, flamboyant Syrah has so much to say. The blends is 91% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre and 3% Viognier.
