2018 Blanc de Lynch Bages, Bordeaux (Pre-Arrival)

SKU #1407914 94 points Decanter

Outer quote mark A balanced, juicy, slate-filled mineral edge here, with a crisp shot of mint. Has a lovely balance of rich texture and acidity, with lime blossom and citrus. Inner quote mark (11/2020)

92-93 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark A fresh and fruity white with sliced-apple and lemon character. Layered and a hint of tannic texture. Lemon zest and lots of energy. Inner quote mark (4/2019)

90-93 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark A lively thyme note pierces the core of white peach and white asparagus flavors. Offers a racy edge, with jasmine and white peach details in reserve. Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle. (JM, Web-2019) Inner quote mark

90-92 points Jeb Dunnuck

Outer quote mark From vines just to the west of the estate and mostly Sauvignon Blanc, the 2018 Château Lynch-Bages Blanc is a solid effort, offering classic notes of lemon curd, white flowers, and subtle minerality, medium body, good freshness and purity, and a clean, dry finish. Inner quote mark (5/2019)

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2018 Blanc de Lynch Bages is showing a little reduction, opening out to notions of warm peaches, passion fruit and gooseberries plus suggestions of honeysuckle, coriander seed and chalk dust. Medium-bodied, the palate is completely filled with tropical and citrus flavors plus a racy backbone, finishing long with a touch of chalkiness. (LPB) Inner quote mark (4/2019)

Jancis Robinson

Outer quote mark Complex aroma that is herbal, spicy and with a lovely nose that is so typically Bordeaux Blanc. Cedary but with lemon and grapefruit freshness too. Slight grip, moderate concentration, more interesting aromatically than for its intensity. Not very long but super-fresh. 16.5/20 points (JH) Inner quote mark (4/2019)

Outer quote mark Bottled in May, the 2018 Blanc de Lynch Bages was matured for six months in 50% new oak, the Sauvignon Blanc fermented in tank. This has more vigor and attack on the nose compared to the 2017, delivering citrus fruit, Granny Smith apples and fresh pear aromas. The saline palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and a pretty, fresh malic finish. I prefer this to the 2017. (NM) Inner quote mark (11/2019)
