2015 du Vallier, Bordeaux

SKU #1407558 92 points James Suckling

Currants and milk chocolate with rose-petal aromas follow through to a full body, round and velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Needs two or three years to soften. All here. Drink in 2021. (2/2018)

Wine Enthusiast

The producer obviously likes wood aging, because this is a strongly toasty wine. It has dark coffee and licorice flavors as well as a strong tannic character. It will need time to soften. Drink from 2020. (RV) (12/2017)

Wine Spectator

Focused, with a light mineral thread running through the core of damson plum and cherry paste flavors. Light savory and cedar accents chime in on the stylish finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2019. (JM, Web Only-2018)

A fantastic opportunity to to experiment with a Bordeaux that is accessible now and of a good value. Soft palate with notes of currents, berries and coffee. Not to mention, the classic Bordeaux minerality. This wine would certainly impress guests on a dinner party.

Comprised of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, this delicious little Bordeaux is drinking beautifully right now. On the nose, it reveals dark fruits, some cedar and a touch of earth. Tannins are well integrated and soft. I was pleasantly struck with how well balanced the wine is on the palate. Seamless. A delicious red with a very wallet-friendly price!

Here is one of those stunning Bordeaux reds that you can drink and enjoy every day and not go broke. Soft tannins, and subtle notes of dark berries (blueberrry, raspberry and black berries), this Merlot heavy blend makes a perfect steak wine, but it's also drinks really well on it's own.
