2013 Bohème "Mancini Ranch" Russian River Valley Old Vine Zinfandel

SKU #1405200 90 points Jeb Dunnuck

The only Zinfandel I was able to taste from this estate, the 2013 Mancini Ranch Zinfandel (there’s some Carignan, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet in the blend) sports a deeper ruby color to go with outstanding notes of blackberries, black cherries, roasted herbs, and saddle leather, with more and more spice developing with time in the glass. Coming from sandy soils and vines planted in 1922, aged 11 months in French oak, this medium-bodied, elegant, classic Zinfandel can be drunk anytime over the coming decade. (8/2018)

K&L Notes

Luca Mancini planted his vineyard atop the sandy, rolling hills of Russian River Valley in 1922. The vine selection is predominantly Zinfandel yet includes customary field blend varieties of the day: Carignane, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouchet.
