2014 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

SKU #1397370 92 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Distinctive, with lots of singed sage, sassafras, black tea and bay leaf notes out front, giving this aromatic distinction while the core of gently mulled plum, black cherry and raspberry fruit is carried by lightly dusty tannins. Shows a lingering perfume of singed alder at the very end. (JM) Inner quote mark (8/2019)

K&L Notes

Silver Oak Cellars is a Californian wine producer known for its wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon. It was founded to focus on that grape variety in 1972 by entrepreneur Raymond Twomey Duncan and winemaker Justin Meyer. Winery notes: "Sourced primarily from two estate vineyards in the southeast foothills of Napa Valley, Soda Canyon Ranch and the Jump Rock Vineyard, this Bordeaux blend is composed of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. It was blended in early 2015 and aged for two years in 85% new American oak barrels, infusing subtle and creamy aromatics of vanilla and coconut into the wine. This wine is drinkable upon release but, given proper cellaring conditions it can be enjoyed through 2040."
