2007 Bollinger "La Grande Année" Rosé Champagne

SKU #1396626 97 points Decanter

Outer quote mark An enticingly rewarding nose of apricot, flint and toast leads to a palate that's just as good and even more developed, with honey, brioche marzipan and bruised apple notes. It has super tension and drive. Compelling, delicious and distinctive. (JS) Inner quote mark (11/2018)

95 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark Honey and roses with fresh almonds and an array of dried berries, amid deep, rich, toasted-nut, autolysis character. The palate has a bold array of rich, concentrated berry flavors in a fresh core, surrounded by a warming wrap of grilled hazelnuts. Roasted coffee to close. Terrific complexity. Drink now. 95 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Fragrant, with notes of chalk and spring blossom on the nose, this fresh and focused version offers a finely detailed, lacy palate of white raspberry, peach skin, toast and candied ginger flavors. Long and creamy on the spice- and smoke-laced finish. Disgorged November 2016. *Highly Recommended* (AN) Inner quote mark (6/2018)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark Containing some 6% red wine from Bollinger's La Côte aux Enfants vineyard, the 2007 La Grande Année Rosé offers up a complex bouquet of dried orange peel, walnuts, confit lemon and crisp orchard fruit. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, chalky and structured, with bright acids and a more overtly phenolic chassis than its white counterpart, concluding with a long, delicately nutty finish. (WK) Inner quote mark (4/2019)

Outer quote mark The age shows in the onion-skin color of this wine. On the palate it reveals itself in the sort of toastiness for which this producer is famed. The fruit is ripe, still hinting at red berries while moving much more to spice, almonds and mature acidity. Drink this remarkable wine now. (RV) Inner quote mark (12/2019)

93 points John Gilman

Outer quote mark The 205 Bollinger “Grande Année” Brut Rosé is an excellent wine and is drinking very well indeed, with a vibrancy on the nose and backend energy that is most impressive. The bouquet offers up a fine combination of tangerine, wild strawberries, wheat toast, chalky minerality and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and zesty, with a very suave attack, a lovely core, elegant mousse and a long, refined and bouncy finish of impressive complexity and delineation. Fine, fine juice. Inner quote mark (7/2018)

93 points Wine & Spirits

Outer quote mark This gains its light pink color from six percent of still Pinot Noir wine from Bollinger’s Côte aux Enfants vineyard. It’s tight, austere and tannic, still youthfully inaccessible at more than ten years of age. The scents of red apple skin, hibiscus and sage complement the red fruit, adding spicy intensity that lasts on the breath. Inner quote mark (12/2018)

Jancis Robinson

Outer quote mark Medium onion-skin. Coffee lees expression over dark cherry, some flint and dried-herb savouriness. Some old-cream complexity that needs coaxing from the glass. Firm, chalky texture with red and black cherry, some orange-citrus and plenty of nutty lees. Fine, brooding and dense. Needs time to open. Very fine rosé. (TJ) 18/20 Inner quote mark (3/2019)

2007 is the vintage that keeps on giving, with Champagnes from this harvest changing beautifully as they age. Fresh with watermelon and bright berry fruit, Bollinger’s "La Grande Année" Rosé is substaintial but still feels restrained, with a minerally backbone and subtle salinity, plus luxurious hints of honey throughout the palate. There is juicy richness present, but it is completely unobtrusive and the finish is dry. It has strength to stand up to food with finesse, and evolves in the glass. If I could afford to drink this nimble beauty with every meal, I would.

Now here's another stunning example of why Rose from Champagne is the best! The 2007 La Grande Annee from Bollinger is beautifully executed with pleasant notes of citrus and strawberry. With 72% pinot noir and 28% chardonnay, it finishes dry, but has a nice subtle roundness from the chard. This is easily one of my favorite champagnes in the store.
