The Montée de Tonnerre is quite serious, with a classic bouquet of wet stones, lemon zest and spring flowers, and a taut, stony, medium-full palate with nice cut and grip. Drinking Window 2019 - 2028. (WK) (10/2017)
The 2016 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a fresh cooking apple, gooseberry and pear scented bouquet that blossoms nicely in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a smooth texture, possibly with some wood influence here, though it is deftly handled so that adds a discrete creaminess to the finish. It is a commercially savvy Chablis, not the mean/austere classic Chablis that some might like, but it is delicious. Tasted blind at the BIVB Chablis tasting. (NM) (8/2018)
