Coming all from the En Chamberlin Vineyard and 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2016 Widowmaker En Chamberlin Vineyard has classic crème de cassis, graphite, smoke tobacco, and smoked earth notes as well as a thrilling floral, exotic quality with time in the glass. This full-bodied, deep, silky wine has no hard edges, beautiful tannins, and a remarkable, profound elegance and purity.

Planted on phylloxera-resistant 3309C rootstock, the 2016 The Widowmaker en Chamberlin Vineyard has a black-fruited nose with a tight core of dusty flowers. The wine is full-bodied and lush on the palate, with a tight minerality that will make this quite age-worthy. It's balanced yet still tight on the mid-palate, with a long, lingering finish. This is a beautiful and generous wine that delivers pleasure with a lush and dusty expression. Only 232 cases made. (AM) 95+

Dark, bright red. Black fruits, licorice, bitter chocolate, dried herbs and black pepper on the nose, with a floral topnote emerging with aeration. Suave, brisk, inviting wine with terrific inner-mouth energy and lift but no hard edges to its flavors of dark raspberry, black cherry and licorice. This is very young and backward today but in a distinctly elegant style, with nothing out of place. Shows a sexy Rocks salinity that's enlivened by spices and jasmine. Obviously oaky on the back end but finishes classically dry, with excellent rising persistence. (ST) 93+

There's no question that this wine brings the funk. Cassis bud, freshly tilled soil, chimney and ember aromas are followed by flavorful cherry notes on a deft palate. It shows a surprising amount of structure for the Rocks District. There's also a mouthwatering sense to it that ups the interest along with a long finish. Cabernet from this area is unique and hasn't gotten as much attention as other varieties. (SS)

This has a straight-shooting cabernet feel with deep cassis and blackcurrants, as well as sweeter blackberries on the palate that marry well with some sweeter oak. The balance is impressive here, as is the sustained fruit.

Supple and elegantly structured, with rich black cherry, violet and smoky olive flavors that take on dimension toward polished tannins. (TF)
