SKU #1386221 92-93 points James Suckling

Outer quote mark Full and juicy with lots of currant and blackberry character. Hot-stone undertones. Chewy tannins. Has the stuffing to come around nicely. Inner quote mark (4/2017)

90 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Ripe and rounded in feel, with polished plum and cassis notes lined with subtle savory and iron steaks that extend through the pure, sleek finish. Not big, but fresh and balanced. Drink now through 2027. (JM) Inner quote mark (3/2019)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2016 Haut-Vigneau is medium garnet-purple colored with a nose of warm plums, black cherries and mulberries with a baking spice undercurrent. Medium-bodied, soft and juicy, it delivers a spicy finish. (LPB) Inner quote mark (11/2018)

Outer quote mark The 2016 Haut-Vigneau, which is overseen by Eric Perrin of Carbonnieux, has a tightly knit blackberry and black truffle bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm, grippy tannin, but there is plenty of gorgeous pure black fruit with veins of white pepper and cassis toward the almost Saint-Émilion-like finish. (NM) Inner quote mark (1/2019)

Haut Vigneau has year after year produced delicious and exceptional wines. The 2016 is no exception. It has some nice dark fruit that is complex and balanced out with nice structure . It is inviting and ready to drink now and will go well with hearty foods.

This property, adjacent to Carbonnieux, underwent substantial replanting during the last decade of the twentieth century, and is today evolving nicely. The wines are youthfully taut and packed with attractively stylish blackcurrant and cherry fruits, laced with firm tannins and pleasant acidity, creating a harmonious ensemble that will develop well over the next few years.

This wine gushes raspberry, cherry and cocoa flavors and aromas. The body is lifted, lively and balanced between fruit and structure. The mineral filled finish shows plenty of fine, ripe tannin that match beautifully to the refreshing acidity.
