2016 Heinrich Burgenland Zweigelt

SKU #1378903 90 points Wine Enthusiast

Outer quote mark Attractive notes of fleshy, ripe red and black cherries set the tone for this full-fruited, crunchy and joyful red. The medium-bodied palate adds shimmering overtones of cinnamon. It's a fresh, cherry-inflected wine to serve with a slight chill this summer. (AK) Inner quote mark (9/2018)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark From different vineyards and soils on the shores of the Lake Neusiedl, the 2016 Burgenland Zweigelt is pure, fresh and bloody on the fleshy nose. Dark cherry and floral notes lead to a medium-bodied, fresh and silky-textured palate that reveals stimulating purity and mineral freshness. This wine is straight and tight but also transparent—a lovely and refreshing red! (SR) Inner quote mark (12/2018)

Wine Spectator

I don't drink a lot of Austrian reds, but when I do, I'm always pleasantly surprised by how good they can be, and the Zweigelt from Heinrich is one of those bottles. If you're a lover of Beaujolais or Valpolicella, I would say a bottle of this is up your alley. It's soft, and packed with flavors of cherries, herbs, and spices. The Heinrich Zweigelt makes a perfect party wine and it's definitely one to please a crowd. Worth a whirl, if you're feeling somewhat adventurous.
