I have long been fond of Kriek beers and this one from Cascade is a winner. The red wine barrel funk plays nicely with the loads of cherries in this beer. This beer is truly a palate wrecker, one might say a "blitzkriek" on the palate, but in a good way. The beer has a beautiful mahogany color. The nose is distinctly sour accented by a good dose of sour cherry and hints of oak. On sipping, the first note is tart tart cherry followed by red sour patch kids and funky acidity that hits you in the fillings. Its bone dry finish lingers, leaving the tongue tingling and cheeks puckered. A damn good sour from Portland. If you like face-smacking sours, this one is well worth the ride.
Drink from 2020 to 2022
