Plum, tobacco, menthol, new leather and spice notes flesh out in a rich, enveloping wine endowed with tons of depth and nuance. The 2012 stands out for its pure resonance. The most mid-weight and straightforward vintage of this cuvee I’ve tasted, the 2012 En Gobelet has notions of blackberry, crushed rocks, spring flowers and licorice in its medium-bodied, fresh and lively profile. Made from 63% Grenache, 12% Mourvedre, 11% Syrah, 8% Counoise and 6% Tannat, it has solid tannic grip on the finish, but it needs more depth and richness. (JD) (8/2014)
