This vintage has expansive layered aromas featuring floral notes and herbs like sage and mint, while flavours turn toward the more savoury, olivey, dark earth and tobacco side. Though the wine isn't dense or especially concentrated, it has a lovely supple, smooth texture. It’s lighter in character, fresher and lower in alcohol than 2015. (EM) (9/2019)
Silver Oak Cellars is a Californian producer known for its wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon. It was founded to focus on that grape variety in 1972 by entrepreneur Raymond Twomey Duncan and winemaker Justin Meyer. Winery note: "Our 2014 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a garnet color with a ruby red rim and bluish tint. It has an alluring nose of chocolate-covered strawberries, vanilla, nutmeg, truffle and sage. On the palate, it has a broad yet delicate entry and offers cranberry flavors. These flavors are complimented by raspberry and pluot flavors and savory black olive characters on the mid-palate. The wine finishes with silky tannins, cedar and bramble flavors with excellent length and return. Given proper cellaring conditions, this wine will be deliciously drinkable through 2038."
