2016 Antech "Emotion" Cremant de Limoux Brut Rosé

The Antech "Emotion" is a little something different: a blend of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Mauzac and Pinot Noir from the AOC Crémant de Limoux in the Languedoc region of southern France. Since the 2012 vintage it has been a huge hit with our staff; now it is back, to make our evenings and dinner parties sparkle just that much more. Pale pink hue, fine bead, delicate hints of cherry and strawberry with white floral notes. A crisp, elegant sparkler made in the traditional method, spending 15 months in the bottle before disgorgement. At way less than the price for a bottle of Champagne, Cuvée Emotion is the perfect choice for a house sparkling wine or to serve at parties. Brilliant as an aperitif, or paired with sashimi, Chinese or Thai cuisine.

We had the privilege of tasting with the winemaker of Antech, Francoise which is always a special reminder of how much work and care goes into every single one of these amazing wines. The Emotion Rose is not just a staff favorite here but one of our best sellers for a clear reason. Fresh, bright, full of strawberry but with the freshness of a white wine, I can not say enough good things about this bottle so I'll leave it at this: you need to buy this wine, you can't afford not to.

Contrary to popularly-held belief, sparkling wine originated with Benedictine Monks in the Limoux region of southern France, over a century before Dom Perignon was a babbling bubble in his mother's arms. Antech is a family-owned winery dating back six generations, and has perfected the production of deliciously affordable sparkling wines grown in the shadow of the Pyrenees. Pale rose-tinted and without dosage, the Emotion delivers crisp, subtle notes of red berries and delicate spice, a delightful aperitif on its own or happy to complement everything from Hamachi sushi to a platter of deep-fried calamari.

I love its delicate color and its aromas of wild strawberries and raspberries. Completely Brut, and it pairs beautifully with the spicy foods or sashimi. It is also very nice as an aperitif or even after dinner as a light accompaniment to a raspberry/strawberry dessert.
