2015 Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aine "Domaine de Thalabert" Crozes-Hermitage

SKU #1364991 97 points Jeb Dunnuck

Outer quote mark The finest vintage to date, better even than the stellar 2010, the 2015 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine De Thalabert is a gorgeous, deep, layered, and incredibly satisfying Crozes. Blackcurrants, olive tapenade, truffles and earthy notes all emerge from this full-bodied, gorgeously textured and seamless 2015. With fine tannin and no hard edge, it can be drunk today or cellaring for 15-20 years. Inner quote mark (1/2018)

94 points Vinous

Outer quote mark Inky ruby. Suave, mineral-accented scents of ripe blueberry, black currant and Indian spices, along with a slowly emerging floral component. Plush, broad and deeply concentrated, displaying black and blue fruit, licorice and mocha flavors that are energized by an intense, peppery overtone. Finishes extremely long, fleshy and sweet, delivering intense mineral thrust, a subtle cracked pepper nuance and youthful, building tannins. (JR) Inner quote mark (4/2018)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2015 Crozes Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert is a super effort, packed with savory notes of black olives and crushed stones. It's full-bodied and rich, with a hint of cedary oak, but there's plenty of fruit and ripe tannins on the lingering finish. Like some of those fine Thalabert vintages of the past, it should drink well for a couple of decades. 93+ (JC) Inner quote mark (12/2017)

We decanted for about four hours, but even the first pour on opening had a "wow" factor. Very pure deep red fruit lines impressive aromatics that give way to a touch of sage and smokiness. Pure silk on the palate, there are waves of very bright black fruit propped by impressive acidity. The balance is also impressive - this is no heavyweight, instead it strikes a great balance of energy and tension to support the depth of flavor and a very impressive, lingering finish. Extremely polished, this will be very hard to resist opening even at this age, but it will most likely be a 15-20 year wine all the same. Northern Rhone collectors shouldn't miss this, but anybody who is curious about what a banner vintage brings to this region should give it a go.
