Ripe cherries and plums are blanketed with a very full measure of sweet oak in the distinctive, strongly vanillin, root beer- and cola-like aromas of this one, but the wine's flavors prove to be a little less beholden to oak than expected and persistent fruit holds its own even as the wine tends to tighten on its way to a slightly wiry, modestly tannic finish.
