Château de la Grangerie K&L Exclusive Armagnac (1L)

SKU #1362263

It's products like these that make me question why Armagnac hasn't completely taken over the back bar. The honest truth is that they're not able to produce massive quantities with a similar quality and price ratio. It's not that the grapes aren't there, but it's simply not the most obvious business decision for small producers. By selling lots of young eau-de-vie at a low price, they're robbing themselves of the opportunity to age the stuff and demand significantly higher prices down the road. That's not to say that there aren't plenty of cheap young Armagnac on the market, but none are quite like this one. Unadulterated and high proof, yet balanced perfectly. You've got purity of fruit and a ample amount of oak. It's cheap enough to experiment with and tasty enough to sip. Used correctly it will revolutionize your bar, opening up the possibility of Sidecars and Crustas every single day. Anything near here in price is likely filled with additives, because producers are afraid to let the natural spirit shine. This big, fat liter bottle of Armagnac is equivalent to paying just under $23 a bottle. It's dry, vibrant, and full of life. Aged in local Gascogne oak for a minimum of 3 years and 100% Ugni Blanc eau-de-vie. Those looking for something dense and sweet should look elsewhere. This won't scratch that itch. For those wanting a clean, dry and delicious brandy to mix or sip at an outrageous price, this will be like manna from heaven.

The lovely 1L of Grangerie is my go to for mixing of any kind. There is no better deal in unadulterated brandy. This is young brand that's not seeing a lot of new oak because it's intentionally meant to harbor the fresh fruit and floral aromatics associated with the eau-de-vie itself. A gorgeous nose of green pears, yellow cherries and tropical flowers. The palate is fresh and grape-y in a good way. Dry and linear with great texture and a clean long finish. As long as you're not using the brandy as a sweet in cocktail creation this one is perfect. It's also gorgeous in a simple long drink or as the strong in many different punch preparations.

While the nose is a bit hot with ethanol obscuring some of the more delicate and floral aromas, the palate is clean and bright with just enough fruit and really nice mouthfeel and acidity. This will be an amazing Armagnac for mixing and cooking, where you want a genuine and true flavor. Delicious and delightful for what it is.

This bottle is consistently one of the best values in the store. Any customer in need of a versatile cocktail brandy, especially for batches, I point to La Grangerie. Delicate and oh-so drinkable but by no means simple, expect to find layers of flowers, stone fruit and almond with a pleasing texture and a honey-like finish. Whether using it as an ingredient or looking to end your day with a spirit that's not challenging, you cannot find a better, easier brandy for this price.

This is the best value in brandy right now. But it is more than that because it is such a pleasure to drink. It is light and soft with subtle layers of flavors. It is one to sit back with and enjoy. Besides drinking alone , this Grangerie could be enjoyed on the rocks or in cocktails.
