The 2016 les Preuses from Domaine Fèvre is another brilliant young wine. The bouquet shows all of the mineral complexity of this great terroir, wafting from the glass in a refined mix of grapefruit, pear, white flowers, lime zest, a hint of beeswax and a glorious bath of limestone minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, long and very solid at the core, with stunning backend mineral drive, lovely focus and grip and a very long, very pure and dancing finish.

Superfine, powerful and flinty with a linear and long shape. Like an arrow on the palate. This has quite an aloof and regal style. Very closed and steely. Long and mouthwatering. Supreme intensity, which makes it exhilarating. Drink or hold.

Vinous
Pungent but reticent nose hints at pineapple, peach, ginger, menthol and subtle crushed-stone minerality. Rich, spicy and sweet, with its ripe orchard fruit flavors leavened by a floral topnote. Very subtle, elegant yet extract-rich wine with terrific dusty length and lift. Ultimately dry and classic, this wine reverberates on the palate for a minute or more. Vincent Dauvissat's Preuses is frequently the finest and most complete example of this grand cru but the William Fèvre version is often my #2 choice. (ST)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2016 Chablis Grand Cru les Preuses has a fresh and enticing bouquet with apple blossom, lime flower, granite and wet limestone aromas that really get to the core of Chablis. Of the six grand crus from Fevre, this might be my favorite. The palate is well balanced and very harmonious. The acidity is well judged and it possesses great elegance and femininity. One of the best wines from the domain this year, it comes recommended. (NM)

A moderately exotic nose consists of a potent mix of fennel, oak, menthol, mineral reduction and essence of pear. There is excellent density and power to the medium weight plus flavors that still manage to come across as refined thanks to hugely long, balanced and sappy finish. This classy effort needs a few years to develop more depth but the material is present for that to happen.

The Preuses is also nicely classic in 2016, wafting from the glass with notes of citrus oil, flowers, wet stones, sea breeze and a touch of crème pâtissière. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, elegant and texturally refined, with an assertive seam of minerality and a surprisingly generous core of succulent fruit, finishing with good cut and grip. (WK)
