The 2014 Estate Ext 24 is the, you guessed it, the extended aged version of the Estate cuvee. This was previously called the Alchemist and in 2014 is made from 51% Tempranillo, 28% Syrah, 13% Petit Verdot and 8% Grenache. Getting a few expletives in my rough notes, this beauty sports a deep purple color as well as thrilling aromatics, full-bodied richness, building, firm tannin and straight up awesome purity. The Tempranillo structure is front and center, so I suspect short term cellaring will be the name of the game. (JD)

K&L Notes
Booker farms mostly red Rhône varieties, with more than half of their vineyards planted to Syrah. However, other grapes such as Tempranillo are planted in small quantities, along with white Rhône grapes like Roussanne, Viognier, and Marsanne. Production is limited to roughly 4500 cases annually, most of which is sold through their mailing list.
Jeb Dunnuck for Wine Advocate on the producer: "The wines from Eric Jensen at Booker are some of the most impressive releases coming out of California. While in the past, they relied on pure fruit and texture to impress, today they possess layered, elegant and complex characters paired with serious depth, richness and structure." (08/2016)
