The ginger and smoke aromas (slight reduction) ensure this riesling stands out from the crowd, and as it aerates even more spices and stone fruits emerge. This is still tightly wound with tremendous concentration and great mineral power, and not a gram of fat on its athletic frame. The finish is very long and extremely fresh. Better from 2018.

The 2016 Riesling Zöbinger Ried Heiligenstein Alte Reben 1ÖTW is deep, clear and elegant on the subtle yet greatly complex nose, displaying bright fruit aromas along with substantial minerality, delicate flintiness and herbal notes. Round and silky on the palate, this is a substantial, highly elegant, sustainable, salty and tensioned Heiligenstein full of finesse and without any age. Very deep and perfectly balanced. A sublime dry Riesling from the Kamptal's greatest terroir. Tasted at the domain in September 2019. (SR)

Stony, flinty reduction still clouds the nose of this wine. Underneath, the promise of citrus is evident. On the palate, that citrus freshness is clothed in juicy swirls of ripe apricot and yellow apple. A sonorous take on Riesling that's intriguing and charming at once. Wait for this to come together. Drink 2020–2030.
