2010 Domaine Taupenot-Merme 1er Cru Nuits St. Georges "Les Pruliers"

SKU #1352536 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2010 Nuits St. Georges Les Pruliers is one of the more immediate of the 1er Crus at Taupenot-Merme. A burst of dark red fruit flows through to the juicy, expressive finish. The firm tannins need time to soften, but I don't see the Pruliers ever becoming as refined as the very best wines in this lineup. (AG) Inner quote mark (2/2012)

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

Outer quote mark A densely fruited and notably ripe mix of red currant, plum, cassis and plenty of pungent and warm earth influence. The density continues onto the impressive concentrated medium weight plus flavors that possess good power and a plenitude of dry extract that confers a velvety palate impression, all wrapped into the mouth coating, explosive and outstandingly long finish. This is firmly structured, indeed it's presently quite chewy, yet strikingly complex effort is excellent and well worth a look. In short, this is a classic Nuits that should amply reward long-term cellaring. *Outstanding* Inner quote mark (1/2013)

92 points John Gilman

Outer quote mark The domaine’s parcel in les Pruliers were replanted in the mid-1970s and now average thirty-five to forty years of age. This wine has turned out beautifully in 2010, offering up a sappy bouquet of black cherries, dark berries, raw cocoa, dark soil tones, a touch of fresh nutmeg, a bit of bonfire and a very sophisticated base of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and pure on the attack, with a very suave personality for a young Pruliers. The finish is long, ripely tannic and beautifully balanced, with fine focus and the vintage’s great sense of elegance very much in evidence on the backend. High class juice. (Drink between 2020-2060) 92+ Inner quote mark (6/2012)

K&L Notes

Romain Taupenot took his family's estate from relative obscurity to one of the great values in 1er and Grand Cru collectible Burgundy. The acclaim is nearly unheard-of - starting with the 2009 vintage, the domaine seems to merit top-of-the-vintage marks (even in line with the region's elite) from Galloni, Robinson, Meadows, Martin, and more. Very few properties in modern Burgundy can sustain this kind of success and keep prices reasonable. Having tasted the wines, it's nearly impossible to disagree with the hype. The wines are simply stunning.
