2015 La Fleur de Boüard, Lalande-de-Pomerol

SKU #1350167 93 points Decanter

Outer quote mark This is excellent quality and among the best of the line-up. There is an impressive balance of flavours combining brambly fruits with gentle smoked almonds and charred cedar black spice, and the alcohol is generous but not intrusive. Always a leading name in Lalande-de-Pomerol, doing an excellent job in 2015. (JA) Inner quote mark (8/2019)

Outer quote mark The 2015 La Fleur De Bouard is an awesome wine to seek out. Mostly Merlot, it offers a terrific bouquet of cassis and black cherries intermixed with lots of tobacco leaf and lead pencil notes. It’s medium to full-bodied, has beautiful purity of fruit, and sweet tannin, as well as a texture that just glides over the palate. Inner quote mark (11/2017)

Outer quote mark The chocolate, meat and dark-berry character is impressive to this wine. Full body, round and soft tannins and a flavorful, clove-spiced finish. Just strength with balance. Inner quote mark (2/2018)

Outer quote mark This is a light, fragrant wine. Its tannins are well balanced with bright acidity and lively black currant fruits. The acidity is infectious, crisp and welcome. (RV) Inner quote mark (4/2016)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark Medium garnet-purple in color, the 2015 La Fleur de Bouard has a perfumed nose of violets and roses with a core of baked cherries, warm black raspberries, plums and spice box. The medium to full-bodied palate is soft and packed with fruit, finishing with an herbal lift. (LPB) 90+ Inner quote mark (2/2018)

90 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark Fleshy in feel, with plum sauce and steeped cherry notes gliding along, inlaid with singed cedar and sandalwood details. Light tea and mineral accents show on the finish. (JM) Inner quote mark (3/2018)

Vinous

Outer quote mark The 2015 La Fleur de Boüard is much more complete and harmonious as a bottled wine than from barrel. Ripe red cherry, plum, tobacco, licorice and menthol add character to this juicy, flavorful red. All the elements are very nicely balanced. (AG) Inner quote mark (2/2018)

What an incredible Bordeaux at this price. Tons of roasted coffee grinds and chocolate on the nose to let you know you've got something special. The wine is a touch softer on the palate, revealing more typical dark fruits like plum. Although still young, the wine is incredibly drinkable. If you have the patience (or space), it will turn into something even more special.

Owned by the same owners as Angélus, Bellevue and other great properties in the Right Bank, the Boüard family. Thoroughly modernized in 2011, this château has been producing wines of an excellent quality, and in vintages like 2015, it sure excelled. It is drinking very well now after a good decanting, but a good 5 years in the cellar, it would certainly evolve into a beauty.
