Connoisseurs Guide
Dehlinger Pinots are rarely lacking in ripeness, but, at their best as this one most certainly is, they are uncompromising in their richness and sheer fruity strength. This lavish effort is rife with extracted black cherry fruit, and, while supple in feel and very full-bodied, it is uncannily well-balanced for the big wine that it is. It shows fine integration of its parts and, owing to its extra year of age, is marginally more polished than its pair of younger mates that follow, but it is by no means near its peak and has plenty of room for improvement. Drink it now, if you must, with appropriately hearty dishes, but know that its best lies several years down the line.

Vinous
The 2014 Pinot Noir High Plains is the most overt and also structured of the Pinots. The fruit is on the riper side, which gives the wine its racy personality and textural voluptuousness. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, spice and leather all develop nicely. All the signatures of this site are amped up, with good interplay between the fruit and the structural elements that lie beneath.
